This plastic portion of the 3.2-liter thermostat housing acts as a cover for the thermostat itself. It sits at the front of the housing toward the front of the engine. This part is very important, seeing as how its the end cap for the coolant housing and holds the thermostat in. If you're replacing your thermostat and notice cracks or weak spots in the plastic, it is a good idea to replace this part.
